May 1, 2026 — Veterinary Hope Foundation is proud to celebrate five years of supporting the mental health and well-being of veterinary professionals through connection, education, and programming grounded in evidence-based theories.
Founded in 2021, Veterinary Hope Foundation was created in response to the growing need for accessible, compassionate mental health support within the veterinary profession. Over the past five years, the organization has expanded its reach through virtual support groups, educational webinars, mental health resources, and partnerships designed to strengthen resilience, reduce stigma, and foster belonging across the veterinary community.
“Hope is what brought us here, and hope is what continues to guide us forward,” said Blair McConnel, VMD, MBA, Founder and Board President of Veterinary Hope Foundation. “Five years ago, we believed there had to be a better way to support the people who dedicate their lives to caring for animals. Today, we remain committed to building a future where every veterinary professional feels seen, supported, and connected.”
Veterinary Hope Foundation’s programs provide safe and supportive spaces for veterinarians, veterinary technicians, students, hospital teams, and other veterinary professionals to share experiences, learn practical coping strategies, and access meaningful mental health education. Grounded in evidence-based theories and facilitated by mental health professionals, the Foundation’s programming helps address the unique challenges faced by those working in veterinary medicine.
As Veterinary Hope Foundation looks ahead, the organization remains focused on expanding access to support, deepening partnerships, and reaching more individuals and teams across the profession.
“This anniversary is not only a celebration of how far we have come,” McConnel added. “It is a reminder of why this work matters and why we must continue to carry hope forward for the future of veterinary medicine.”
Veterinary Hope Foundation extends its gratitude to the supporters, partners, board members, volunteers, mental health professionals, and veterinary community members who have helped shape and sustain its mission over the past five years.
